That Handel Memoirs of the life of the late GF Handel , is probably the first biography of a composer .
A Roma infatti il compositore tedesco frequentava i palazzi degli influenti cardinali Colonna, Pamphili and Ottoboni and some of the most important papal nobility.
Mainwaring writes (p. 36 ed.1985 by Lorenzo Bianconi): "As was familiar with many people of 'sacred order, but had all persuasions repugnant to them, it is easy to imagine that some of them we condole with him on this matter. Because as you may think that Codest good Catholics, who wanted really well, do not try to draw him out of the way of damnation? cornered by an inflamed Of this church, he replied that he could not nor willing to enter into such matters, but he was determined to die faithful to confessione, vera o falsa che fosse, nella quale era nato e cresciuto.
Da Roma andò a Napoli, dove (come in other cities) had at his disposal a palace, and was assisted with food, car and any other convenience. "
Handel, in defending his beliefs, shows all the firmness and the pride of his character. But certainly to this story emerges from a Catholic environment stretches much more tolerant and less ferocious than that some legends suggest black.
the Roman period is the 'oratorio "The Triumph of Time and Disillusion", by which is part of the following "You elected minister of heaven," beautifully performed by Natalie Dessay
